Skykomish Town Center Great Northern Railway engine 1246
Proposed Skykomish Town Center. The former Great Northern Railway depot will be moved to the south side of the tracks to be used as a visitor center, there will be display tracks for historic locomotives and cars, including several GN diesel locomotives: a GP 30, SD 45, GP7 and a Burlington Northern  SD-40-2 locomotive and caboose The town is attempting to negotiate a purchase of GN locomotive 1246, located in Oregon. The last active GN steam engine on the Cascade Division, GN gave 1246 to the City of Seattle in 1953, it was displayed at Woodland Park Zoo for many years. Great Northern Day September 10, 2011

GN Day was in the Masonic Hall this year, there were a couple of interesting items on display.

 

This brush was found at Wellington during salvage operations after the 1910 avalanche.
